The Myth “My Body, My Choice”

The Truth A woman does indeed have a right over her body, and we should respect that right. But in the case of pregnancy, we’re not just dealing with the woman’s body, but also with a baby living in her womb. He’s not just an organ in her body - he’s a unique and complete human being in and of himself. Here are some scientific facts that prove this:

• At the moment of conception, his own unique DNA is formed – separate from that of his mother’s. Therefore, every cell in his body is unique to him, and every one of his cells is different from every cell in his mother’s body
• He has a heart, a head, hands, feets, eyes, ears, and other body parts. If he were just a part of his mother’s body, then she would have two hearts, two heads, four hands, 20 toes, four ears…. Does that sound logical to you?!
• He has his own blood circulatory system, nervous system, and endocrine system
• In half of the cases (when it’s a boy), he’s even a different gender than her

An abortion cuts off the life of an innocent human being. So when a woman decides to abort, she’s not exercising a right over her own body, but rather denying the very right to life of another human being (her own baby). The right to life is the most basic human right, without which we can have no other rights!
